I am very late to the party on this post Kimberly, but think it's a good one to revisit.

You are so right! It isn't about boobs or bling; it's all about perception and more importantly controlling the situation in how a person wants to be perceived. If someone puts a lampshade on his head at a party, be prepared to be labeled a person who enjoys his libations, even if that's an erroneous statement. For me, It comes down to this: personal branding.

I appreciate your statements about how someone needs to be aware of how someone presents him/herself in a job interview. If there was ever a time to keep the focus on the conversation, it has to be in this situation. It is one of the most stressful interactions because simply, the interviewee is being evaluated on each and every aspect of who they are, what they know, how they know it, why they're better than other people who do what he does, etc. Best to keep focus on the conversation, not the "shiny objects"… whatever those may be.

Thanks Ed and Marty for taking the time to comment.

There are always varied opinions that can arise from pointing out any gender issues and I'm okay w/that. It comes down to the same thing -- it's very close to impossible to predict human thinking and that's okay. It's just one more think we should all be aware of, in my opinion.

I originally came here for the picture that I heard you tweeting about ;-)

But these are excellent points to situations that do come up and it so very important to always consider how you are perceived by others in certain situations. Great Perspective on this!
